Layout Coordination
Plant layout coordination: integration of the Client's machines with civil works and structures. Multi-discipline clash management. Support from the early commercial phase.
From laser survey to execution drawings. One single technical pipeline.
SIAPROGETTI coordinates and develops the engineering of complex steel-making plants: layout coordination, basic & detail design, 3D digital twin. For over 25 years alongside steel plants and plant manufacturers worldwide.
SIAPROGETTI is the continuation of Geometri Associati Bianchetti & Poli, founded in 1980. Since 1989 we have been designing in a parametric 3D environment — among the first in Italy to adopt three-dimensional CAD workstations for industrial engineering. Today we specialise in the management and coordination of complex project teams for steel-making plants, integrating civil works and steel structures with the Client's machines and equipment through 3D models, from the commercial phase through to as-built delivery. Headquartered in Gardone Val Trompia (BS), Italy.
From feasibility analysis to site supervision: we cover the entire engineering cycle for steel plants, meltshops and rolling mills — greenfield, brownfield and revamping.

Detail engineering: complete execution drawings for foundations, reinforced concrete structures and structural steelwork. Documentation ready for site construction.
Complete 3D plant modelling as digital twin: integration of structures, foundations, piping and machinery. Animations for the tender phase and commercial follow-up. Augmented reality. 3D printing.
Basic and detail engineering for interconnecting piping and electrical distribution. Cable tray design. Coordination with other plant disciplines.
Topographic and laser scanner survey of existing plants for brownfield and revamping. Reverse engineering from point clouds. Accurate as-is models as the baseline for every intervention, with simulation and integration of the new design into the real context.
Pre-feasibility and feasibility studies for new plants. Site supervision, just-in-time revision management, cost control and final as-built documentation.
Workshop drawings for structural steelwork fabrication: material lists, nesting, welding, bolting. Detailed 3D models for shop fabrication and on-site assembly.
Structural calculation and finite element analysis for machinery foundations, steel structures and industrial buildings. Seismic, stability and fatigue checks according to European or local design codes for the project country.
We work with three categories of Clients where plant complexity requires an experienced and reliable engineering partner.
Steel plants and rolling mills producing bars, wire rod, coils, sections and rails. EAF/BOF meltshops, hot and cold rolling mills. We design the civil, structural and plant engineering around the productive core.
Manufacturers of machinery and complete production lines for steel mills. We provide integrated civil works engineering — foundations, steel structures, machine bases — coordinated from the layout stage with your equipment.
Turnkey integrators and EPC/EPCM contractors taking overall project responsibility. We provide the complete civil, structural and plant engineering package that closes the risk before the construction site opens.
Construction companies and mechanical/piping installation contractors. We develop just-in-time detail engineering, coordinated with execution phases, to reduce variations, surprises and downtime on industrial sites.
From structural steelwork to special foundations: the technical activities SIAPROGETTI designs and coordinates.
We provide specialist engineering to the actors making up the international steel value chain: from end users to machinery manufacturers, from turnkey integrators to construction companies.
Those who build steel plants — machinery manufacturers, EPC turnkey contractors, installation companies — need specialist engineering that prepares the buildable before construction starts. Translating machines, processes and site constraints into models, calculations and execution drawings that reduce surprises, variations and production downtime is our business.
Since 1989 we have been designing in parametric 3D. Laser scanning, BIM/Tekla modelling, FEM calculations and digital twin are daily tools — not an occasional service. We invest continuously in software, hardware and technical training.
A single 3D model as the source of all deliverables: layout, civils, piping, structural steelwork. Revisions propagate in real time across disciplines, eliminating misalignments and late site variations.
We sign calculations and checks as a party independent from the manufacturers. We guarantee clients and contractors a project compliant with applicable regulations and structural constraints, without commercial conflicts of interest.
Over the years we have built solid relationships with high-level partners who share our vision, ethics and working methodology.
Project management and coordination, civil works, structural steelwork. Team leader on every project type.
Detail execution design for foundations and civil works. Partner for large-scale greenfield and brownfield projects.
Interconnecting piping and cable tray design. Engineering Drawing Service Centre specialised in industrial plant engineering.
Professional topographic survey and laser scanner survey for existing plants. Reference partner for brownfield and revamping projects.
Every project closes with complete, verified and immediately usable documentation.
Structured revision management, information traceability and access control within a Common Data Environment (CDE), compliant with the requirements of ISO 19650.
Unlike the traditional method, we start directly from the 3D model: basic design, detail drawings, reports and BoQ are developed and revised in parallel with construction, reducing time and costs.
Our data chain starts from the physical plant and arrives at erection, passing through a 3D model that is simultaneously a design tool and living documentation. Each phase feeds the next without breaks.
Photographic documentation, critical measurements, context constraints and existing interferences collected directly on site.
High-density point clouds for brownfield and revamping: reliable geometric baseline for modelling and reverse engineering.
Plant geometry, machines, piping and structures coordinated in a single environment, navigable and verifiable against clashes.
Basic and detail design: foundations, structural steelwork, piping, interconnections. Signed calculations, BoQ and specifications ready for procurement.
Just-in-time revisions, on-site clash resolution, as-built documentation delivered to the client at project close-out.
25+ years exclusively in the steel industry. We speak the language of process, plant manufacturers and construction companies.
Civil, structural and process engineering under one roof. A single technical contact for the entire project, from design to site.
3D laser scanner, BIM modelling, FEM analysis with state-of-the-art software. Accurate data as the basis of every design decision.
Projects completed in Europe, Middle East, Asia, Africa and Latin America. Documentation in Italian and English, adapted to the Client's country standards.
Lean and reactive structure. Tailor-made assistance, timely feedback and lasting relationships. We are a proactive part of the Client's team.
An integrated team with selected partners: flexible design capacity, calibrated on the needs of the project.
Every document is developed in compliance with the technical standards applicable to the industrial sector and to the Client's country.
Based in Brescia — the heart of the Italian steel industry — we work on national and international projects, bringing Italian engineering excellence wherever steel is produced.
A selection of completed projects for steel plants, meltshops and rolling mills worldwide — greenfield, brownfield and revamping.
Basic design of machinery foundations entirely developed in 3D. Foundation sizing was started exclusively from the 3D models and machine loads, accelerating the production of tender documentation. Documentation completed in 8 months, in parallel with basic engineering.
Upgrade of a steel production line in two phases: intermediate train (2023) and finishing train (2024). Defined budget, reduced schedule, minimised production downtime.
SIAPROGETTI operates in a territory where ironworking and steel production have shaped the industrial identity of Northern Italy for centuries.
As early as the XIII century, the rivers flowing down to Brescia powered the first hydraulic hammers (magli idraulici) — gigantic water-driven mechanical hammers that, as highlighted by historian Franco Robecchi, represent one of the earliest examples of European industrial machinery.
During the Renaissance, Brescian metallurgical technique was so advanced that it was exported across Italy. Iron masters from Val Trompia were called with multi-year contracts as far as Sicily. Tradition and historical sources also link Leonardo da Vinci to the study of local metallurgical techniques, considered among the most advanced of the Renaissance. The fusione alla bresciana (Brescian-style casting) was a mark of excellence recognised throughout Europe.
In the twentieth century this territory became the Italian capital of tondino (the ribbed steel bar that reinforces concrete) — the engine of Italy's modern post-war construction industry.
The hammer is one of the earliest machines of steelmaking. Its first appearance dates back to the 13th century: an extraordinary record that constitutes the technological root of all modern Brescian iron industry.Franco Robecchi — Il Geometra Bresciano, n. 2/2023
